I wish Donnie the best of luck. My good wishes goto Scott that whatever the problem, it will be well for him. I may have missed it, but exactl what songs/albums did donny play in and why did he leave?

Why he left the band I don't know but the other question I can answer: He left Manowar in 1983. He only played the drums on the album "Battle Hymns".

I think he was a member and as far as my search goes he didn't leave because he had another band. After Manowar I can't find anything about him being in another band. If you know something more plz share it.

My mistake.I was read an republication of biography which said that Manowar shortly before come to studio to make the first album ,their drummer Carl Canedy leave the band ,and they looking for new drummer. One night joe as he go for a drink with some friends ,they're going to a club where playing unknowns bands ,and there he saw Donnie Hamzik. He impess from his talent and he ask him to help Manowar to prepare the Battle hymns. When they finnish the album they signing on Scot for tour . For that I was believe that he wasnt member of Manowar. :soth2:

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I don't find it conflicting with anything else I have heard.

I'm glad I helped!

I don't think Donnie has ever been involved professionally in any other band. It is a shame because he is very talented but I guess it was his decision.

I got very angry 2-3 months ago when I saw the comments on Blabbermouth.net about Donnie playing again with Manowar. Most people comlained that his playing is totally amateurish (not sure if that was the exact word or even if it is a word!) and that they didn't like the drums on the first album. I was amazed when I heard the album because I was expecting to hear a really bad drummer.

Then there was a comment about his performance on "Absolute Power" DVD that he is still very amateur. My personal opinion is that he seems very evolved (after all it's been 23 years!).

Maybe Scott is more unique in his playing and Rhino is faster but Donnie has more "freedom" when playing. At least that's how I see it.
